" I have been volunteering at El Nahual, Manos de Colores, teaching English for about three months.  I found the volunteer opportunity in a newspaper here, and am so glad I did because it has really made my stay here in Xela worth it.  At Manos de Colores, you really feel like the children appreciate you being there, and the children are there because they want to learn.  For many of them, even though they may not really learn a significant amount of English, just having the opportunity to be in school, in the learning environment, as well as exposed to foreigners, is the most important lesson.  It is very rewarding, and fun work, and good practice for your Spanish, and you find yourself falling in love with the children!   The director of the school, Jaime, is a great person to work for, very nice, fun, and just wants to help out the community in every way possible.  The two volunteer coordinators, as well as the other volunteers that find their way to this school, have as well been amazing poeple to work with, not to mention who I spend all of my free time with!  Working with Manos de Colores has given me an incredible teaching experience, a way to be in touch with children who just want love and attention, and an opportunity to meet and work with incredible people.
