This week at El Nahual…

Today is the last day of the evaluation! All the schools have done it, even the adults at the Saturday primary school. It’s been a week of colouring in, marking and inputing the results – Annah is sporting a nice callous on her right hand! Overall we will have evaluated over 300 students of differing ages. It will all be so worth it when we redo the evaluation after Unit 4 and find that everyone scores 100%!!

The new curriculum is fully underway. Everyone is filling in their feedback sheets so we will have an accurate record of what the kids are learning and when we can move through the units.

Last night cooking class was packed with 11 students! They made Pepians (vegie and meat versions). It’s a typical Xela salsa made from tomatoes, pumpkin and sesame seeds toasted, red peppers and chilli. Mmmmm!

The kids at the centre this week have been number crunching, up to and over 100 now! They’ve also been making conversation cards and by next week they should be chatting away about who they are, where they’re from and how old they are!!

Scott our resident muso has been giving guitar classes – they got so popular he’s now doing them everyday for the full two hours! Some adults have even snuck in.
