El Nahual provided a friendly environment to get involved in volunteering. I came with no previous experience and so teaching English in the local public schools was challenging but very rewarding. It was also a great way to practise my Spanish.

El Nahual is a very friendly and welcoming organisation. I have been teaching English at the secondary public schools that El Nahual is affiliated with at Telesecundaria San Jose la Viña and Telesecundaria Pacajá. It has been a really enjoyable experience and you can have a lot of fun with the lessons. It's a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in teaching English or teaching in general.

Through volunteering with El Nahual - teaching at the external schools and helping with Manos de Colores - I have gained a valuable insight into the Guatemalan public education system. I´ve also learned how to write lesson plans and manage a classroom - skills that will certainly help me as future educator.

"If you're prepared to throw yourself into this work, it will be one of those rare experiences that fundamentally changes who you are and how you look at the world. I grew and learned more in 4 months of teaching English and Art with Manos de Colores than I did in 4 years of college. It's that kind of place!"
